Mary earned her PhD in psychology and has been mentoring children and adults in primitive wilderness skills since 2003. Since 1988, Mary has taught applied and theoretical psychology and education in various colleges and corporations. Her interest in wilderness therapy inspired her to pursue combining these career interests. WOW teachers mentor children in the development of this relationship, through experiences that capitalize on children’s innate passion for life. Using vision quests and group nature experiences, primitive skills, sacred hunt, naturalist knowledge, plant medicine, expressive arts, eco poetry, crafts, meditation and contemplative approaches, archery, bow making, scout skills and more, children have a chance to know themselves and access their inner wisdom, the only true power we have.  For more information contact: Sweeney, Mary ~ mmsweeney@earthlink.net ~ 603-554-7433 ~ www.wayofthewild.org.

Young Rembrandts of Southwest Denver: Young Rembrandts is the art program with a difference. Our exclusive program dispels the myth that art is a talent a child has or doesn't have. We view art not merely as a talent but as a skill that can - and should be learned by all children. We teach the drawing skills children need. Our curriculum introduces concrete ideas and techniques that enlarge and enrich their visual vocabularies, their imagination and their minds. Young Rembrandts is based on an acclaimed, step-by-step drawing method that works hand-in-hand with our original, innovative curriculum developed by a team of artists and educators. Our singular approach is designed to tap into the three modalities children use to learn: visual, auditory and tactile/kinesthetic. Our step-by-step curriculum and tiered lesson plans form a sequential, ordered teaching process. Of course, above all, Young Rembrandts was created to be fun. We intentionally offer child-friendly and relevant subject matter to spark children's interest and increase knowledge retention, never losing sight that children learn best when they are engaged and entertained.  For more information contact: Strong, Carolyn ~ carolyn.strong@youngrembrandts.com ~ 719.358.9771 ~ www.youngrembrandts.com/denversw-monument-CO.
